Just what the title says. I’m simply training myself to be able to work while music plays, which I’ve never before been able to do.

For always, I’ve been one of those fidgety fuckers who requires total silence, even from the dog, in order to concentrate to where I can get any meaningful work…

Peopleware says listening to music is fine for tasks involving arithmetic or logic, but highly disruptive for more lateral thinking. I find music destroys my ability to think more than one move ahead when engaged in a task, however if I do nothing but listen to music I find it inspirational.

On the other hand, this study was done in Cornell in the 60s and they were probably all so high that they thought the Fortran was an abstract Ginsberg libretto.
